To be present means to be with the realities of our life. No looking away or story telling. What are the facts? How do we feel? What's going on with the body? #Mindfulness #BeHereNow
Psychological #trauma occurs when we experience something that overwhelms our ability to cope. Many of us have experienced trauma in one form or another. Just reading the news these days can be traumatic. Trauma can be minor, like an embarrassing moment, a painful dental appointment, or a supremely awkward Tinder date. If it's minor, you'll recover pretty quickly and probably without much effort. A #mindful conversation with a friend, a hug, a good laugh, or some time in nature may be all you need to process through the small traumas. If it's a major trauma, such as a single awful event or a series of awful events that threatened your mental, emotional, or physical safety, then you have some work ahead of you. If we don't do the work, we live within the limitations of our trauma response, possibly cutting us off from the experiences and relationships we truly desire and from achieving our full potential. #mindfulness #healing
