Mindfulness for When Life Sucks, April 22 from 3:30-6:30 pm at Namaste Yoga

In this workshop, you’ll learn the basics of mindfulness, including a brief look at the history and research behind secular mindfulness in the west and simple and effective ways to practice and apply mindfulness in everyday life.17862811_635800559962535_4930807605924916761_n

The workshop will include discussion and experiential practice. I’ll guide you through several meditations, and also allow time for silent practice. There will be opportunities for questions and feedback.

The class is appropriate both for beginners and for those who want to deepen their practice.

The goal of the class is to learn to be present, not perfect, in the midst of difficult emotions, social unrest, major life changes, and anything else that’s wreaking havoc in your world.

Every other Monday evening at 5:30 pm I’m at Namaste Yoga in Tallahassee teaching a mindfulness class for adults. The class is designed for students to drop in. No experience is needed. I teach the class to suit beginners and to offer more experienced practitioners an opportunity to deepen their practice.

Class content varies each week, but I always offer verbal instruction followed by guided practice with periods of silence.Opportunities for discussion are taken when the moment feels right to share or chat. untitled-2

When planning what practices to teach, I look to what’s going on in our community and the world at large and offer practices that support us in the moment. I love to receive feedback and to tailor classes to the needs of those in attendance, so I begin by sharing what I have in mind for the class and then asking what the class would like to gain from practice, and we go from there.

You can expect to learn basic mindfulness mediation practices, approaches to living a mindful life, and ways to deepen and develop your practice.

All you need to bring is yourself.

Class is $12 drop in, or you can purchase and use a Namaste pass. All forms of payment are accepted.
